Well

With Half Life Two been and gone. Yes I said been and gone. The game was great but it somehow lost its little spark that made me all gooey over the original. In fact nearly all game has had that effect on me this year. Only Far Cry- The first of the great 04 FPS to come out this year actually made me excited. Maybe it was because, like Doom and Half Life, It was the first in the series and had me guessing what would unfold throughout. Yes the story was crap, but who the fuck cares? It has big guns and monsters to kill. More than enough story for an FPS. Now I look Forward to well nothing really, sure there is Advent rising and MGS3 and GT4 and Zelda the whatever-ever and... and... and... But to be honest I am getting real sick of gaming in general and just want to do something else with my time.

OK I feel better now

Well Cool

Well I never thought that this would happen but it has. Called ndsemu.com it is calimed to be a Nintendo DS emulator. Which is pretty bold considering that it hasn't come out yet. I had a play with some demo's and it is fun. But all I see here is a a beta GBA emulator with some cool shit thrown in for fun.

I finally saw the Dead to Rights 2 intro that everyone was raving about.

Well just starting out as making a new games news site, this article was a Enlightening read. I will have to keep this mind when building the new site.

Stopid spending.

I bought a few games last week. All second hand. Most of them I had already, and the ones that I hadn't sucked anyway so it was pretty stupid.

Anyway this is what I bought:
Gamecube:

Soul Clibur 2 - Link is kinda cool to use in this version. But the PS2 version is the best solely for the fact that the controller doesn't make you fell like a spastic little elf. I can’t really play this unless I get a arcade controller for it. Now that X arcade stick doesn’t seem like a bad Idea at all….

Godzilla: Distroy all monsters - 4 player battles, Huge monters in cities, smashing up the buildings and terrain etc. SO WHY THE FUCK DOES EVERYTHING MOVE LIKE IT IS IN TRECLE!!!!!! BTW when I push the button, I'd like it to not be daylayed by 2 seconds either. Total rank bullshit.

Pikmin - I wasn't so sure about this game. And I'm still trying to figure it out. I got to day 10 today and find when it isn't intriging, it is a tad slow and boring. my sister thinks it is cute and has started playing it though. So yet another I won't be able to sell, but not play *SIGH*

Xbox:
Dave Mira BMX 2 (or something). Big Big yawn here. Nuff said.

PC:

Metal Gear solid - This game owns and I have decided to resurrect my MGS craze and have started collecting again. Apart from graphics and a First person View mode, it is exactly the same as the PSX version.

Metal Gear solid 2: Substance. (AS ABOVE)

Metal Gear solid 2: Substance. - Mental note: STOP HITTING THE BUY NOW BUTTON ON TRADEME!!!!!!!!!

Requiem: Avenging angel. A cool game that I have been meaning to play for like the last 4 years. And now that I have it I'll prolly just keep meaning to play it.

Tomb Raider 2 - Don't ask. I will be selling it.

Myst - After years and years of trying to understand what makes myst so bloody awesome (well according to my mates anyway). I though I will but this and give it yet ANOTHER shot.

PS2:
E-jay Club world. I liked the version for the PC. IMO it fit snugly between Music 2000 and Reason. As in not too simple but not overly complicated you don't know WTF you are doing. I heard the PS2 version is pretty shitty and so do I, but meh it was cheap.

Add about 27 SEGA Saturn games that I bought for no apparent reason, and then yeah it has been a money wasting week.

Looking foward to the DS? Me niether.

Found this Funny. Thought I might share it.

I might finish My DC

Well my Dreamcast has been in a sorry state for the last week (ie. in pieces). I was meant to mod it and post it on the bueatiful interweb. But alas as per usual I can't be arsed.
Ill get to it this weekend.

BTW

Frontpage sucks. I knew there was a reason I never installed it. The Sooner my macromedia package arrives the better.

Well I was playing EVE Online for about two days. It sux REAL bad. At first I found it quite engaging, trying to find out everything and how it works. But all there really is to do is Mine, Mine, Sell, Upgrade, Mine more..... and then a little more.... Mine Sell Join a corporation/clan/tribe/whatever only So you can Mine, Sell, and Upgrade as one big family. You are probably guessing WTF you mine eh? Asteroids. Yep thats right asteroids.

ATM I have been playing final Fantasy 7. Mainly for two reasons. One is because I bought about 5 PSONES (real Cheap) and the other is because I reevaluating my opinion on a turn based system. I have mostly shied away from it in the belief that IT IS FUCKING!! SLOW!! But recently I have come to prefer it it allows for a more concise and controllable battle system. Hmmm

Oh Yeah another Turn Based game; shadow hearts covenant totally owns. Go and Buy It.

Fuck What A geek.

Played through Medievil Lords some more

Well work sucks and so therefore playing games is the only practical thing to do with my time.

After a little more testing, Medieval Lord has a few faults. It is good but not great, the combat is lacking and a bit too automated for my taste I was hoping for a balance between the styles of Age of Empires and SimCity. The combat is somewhat lacking, having one sprite represent 10 soldiers and then leaving it down to a scripted battle which leads to a luck/numbers match. Some areas are lacking too, morale of your combat fighters is only important when they are not being fed for example. There seems to be no effect on your village unless becoming succumb to a battle. Enemy civilizations do diddly squat but for some reason the outlaws seem to do more. The military and fighting side of things is very limited.

The City mechanics are on the other hand AWESOME. The diversity of food, serenity, religion and building an economy has a great balance. Technology naturally improves over time and allows you to build more advanced buildings, and thus increase your population. The atmosphere of watching your villagers work and grow is pretty neat.

The control system is clean and easy to move around, the first person view is a nice addition allowing you to see the Villagers go through their daily activities. Which is just as well because there seems to be some nice eye candy to induce.

So if the military aspect is not that important I say go give it a shot. If you lied SimCity and other Older style build em' ups from yester year then you may love this. As it is though Medieval lords is pretty 1997 and not so much a 2004 AAA title. I wouldn’t mind renting it but unless you are a die hard fan of the Genre I would give it a miss.

My Demo Bash

Well I had a play around with the Medievil lords demo today and I have to say I quite liked it. Nothing spectacular but it just seemed to have the right balance of economy and control that really meshed well. Go grab the demo and give it try.

Well arccording to my sources the highly anticipated Rome: total war. Comes out tommorow.Yet another Demo I have been playing to death, I never really touched the Total war series. But I have this to blame for resurging my interest in RTS. Which lead me to go and get the Warhammer: Dow demo. Now after about Three weeks of trying to get the damn thing to install I am at a loss. I mean the damn game is coming out next week and I'm still fluffing around trying to get this damn thing to work. I HEAR it is good.

Oh yeah and there was another demo.... Oh yeah stupid War Of the Ring. what a bunch of shit. Some stoopid Dungeon Siege wannabe. Which is sad as Dungeon Siege is the most lamest RPG out there

I might do the blog thing.

After some thought I might give This whole blog thing a go. Update it once a week and such. Might Just fill it up with gaming and Geek Bullshit that's happening on the web.

So here we go. Until I get my website done.

Things In games that Get me pissed

Well I had bit of a shoddy weekend and now I feel venting some steam. So here it goes:

Things That Peeve me off.

- Cut-scenes, the only thing worse than a long drawn out cut-scene is an unskippable one. If I wanted a movie, I would of gone and bought one (or played D or Myst). Not only that why the hell can’t you pause movies???? i remember needing to take a leak during MGS2, only to find that holding it wasn't such a good idea as the cut-scene dragged on and on and on......

-X,O Yes or No? This is REAL annoying. I wish developers could come up with a standard for menu navigation. Although I can always push triangle for help, or is it the select button......

-Repetitive voices. You know the ones, where you hear those stupid one liners that do nothing but get up your wick. DS: LOA is a prime example. After playing through Dungeon Siege. Playing Legends of Arana Expansion had some welcomed improvements. Too bad the Phrases weren’t one of them. WHY OH WHY is a smart arse comment when I order the character to move, but not attack? It is sooo lame hearing some mage blurt 'with honour' when all he is doing is moving down a path. The one that really tops it for me is that dumb giant to say 'Do you think that is wise' when I tell him to move. Of course I think it is wise. I JUST BLOODY TOLD YOU TO GO THERE!!

- Which bring me to games that claim to be RPGs. Where all these are is find the object, move from point A-B, find another object..... Have a battle, win some money, go to a shop...... Oh congratulations you levelled up!! Now you can go from piont B-C WOOOO. Wait a sec this is almost every PC 'RPG' out there. No wonder I stick to consoles.

-The "X-Treme" attitude of some games. Take Your X-TREME marketing and shove it.

- DOOM 3. Using the latest in rendering technology, shaders and Graphics engines. Doom 3 is a great bunch of dark. No really, no wonder my 9800 pro has such a hard time with this game. Observe the following screenshot:

DOOM

It takes a lot to display black. Well according to ID any way. Yes there is a duct tape mod but the damage has already been done. I can't stand this game.

- Progressive scan and 16:9 please developers!! It only takes about 20 lines of code and you get the satisfaction of not being a lazy tard.

- L_O_A_D_I_N_G. Just in case I forgot, console manufactures kindly remind me what system I just turned on by displaying a 10 second animation of their logo. Then the publisher reminds you who published the, then the development team, then the production company. So nice of them of them all to jog my memory every time I start up a game.

- Please wait.. Loading. Well no sh!t?? How about something a little more interesting?

- Please wait.. Saving. I guess not <_<

- Tony hawk 5,6,7,8,9; Final Fantasy 13,14,15,16,17,18,19,20; Gran Tourismo 5,6,7,8,9; EA*insert sport here* 2006,2007,2008 well you get the idea.

-Bad Music and sound. I really can’t stand the bland punk/rap crap they put out on EA games. And lame engine sounds? WTF is with that? Here's a tip Car Game Gods: take a micro phone, stick it near the car and record the sound it makes. It is quite surprising that cars don't make sounds similar to a drowning cat. Lame voice acting also really gets to me. But bah I have had enough moaning meh No I haven’t:

-5-10. Not a real peeve but a mystery. 90% of all games reviewed get a rating over 5, 50% or whatever, implying that most games are above average. Well I'm no math whiz but if nearly all games are above average doesn't that mean that the average no longer stands at its current value? Therefore an actual 'average' game would be about 7 or 70% wouldn't it? I don’t know.

- Phantom console. Buzz off, I have a PC

- GTA san whatever, after whoring the majority of voters in gaming awards last year. I have no respect for GTA. This over hyped, average gameplay, and lame arse story of-a-game needs to die already

- Oh yeah that reminds of people moaning about Sony and Microsoft destroying the industry, introducing the 'mainstream' gamer or 'mainstream idiot'. The only things worse than these idiotic sheep are the people who constantly whine about them. Going on about how the play station destroyed the gaming industry and killed the hardcore gamer and oh bring back the old-school-return to 2D blah blah. Well I am a hardcore gamer, and I'm still around. Newsflash hotshots: When things go mainstream, there is more of stuff, including bad games, good games, magazines and yes, idiots. Get over it. Just play the damn game, there a more of them nowadays then there ever was and a lot of them a pretty damn good.

- 'This game was way to short. I finished it in less than 30 hours' here is another newsflash hotshot: You need to get out more. 30 hours is usually enough leisure time for a full time, working family orientated individual. Usually only people without lives moan about this. I have no life, I play too many games. And I still can’t be Fucked playing 100hrs+ Games. Go figure.

-Online gaming. Oh I need the 1.1 patch to join server A? Ok. Well that was fun......... Hmmm Oh I need patch 1.6 to play on server B? Ok........ What’s that? I can't play on server A anymore because they all have 1.1 patch and I have the 1.6?........ *2 weeks later* Ohhhhhhh A fix. hmmmm 128 megs, That's OK Ill just go play something else.

So yer those are some of my rants. I feel better now.

Church of Fools

Church of Fools: "Not many churches have Satan hijacking the pulpit, or over 8,000 visitors per day." This site rocks. Although I would not call a real church (and niether do they), it has alot cool articles and semons for an online christian site. Check it now!!
